Chris Clemons, one of the most prolific scorers in NCAA history and the first alum of Millbrook High School to appear in the NBA, will have his #3 jersey retired during Millbrook’s regular season finale against Broughton on Friday, February 14th.
Clemons lettered in three of his four seasons played with the Wildcats and totaled 1,230 career points, the second most in program history. He holds the school record for points in a single season, points in a single game and career three-point baskets.
In his final two seasons at Millbrook, Clemons earned back-to-back Cap-8 Conference Player of the Year honors and guided the Wildcats to two straight NCHSAA Final Four appearances.
After signing with Division-I Campbell University, the 5-foot-9 guard went on to establish 49 program records, including scoring 3,225 points, the third most in NCAA history.
On June 21st, 2019, Clemons was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Houston Rockets. He became the first Millbrook High School alum to appear in an NBA game on November 3rd when he scored 16 points in 21 minutes off of the bench at Miami.
The #3 jersey, worn by Clemons from 2011-2015 at both the junior varsity and varsity levels will be the first jersey number to be publicly retired by Millbrook High School. Clemons will be present for both the February 14th ceremony at Millbrook, and Campbell’s “Chris Clemons Day” the following afternoon in Buies Creek.
Millbrook will be hosting long-time conference foe Broughton on the 14th. The Women’s varsity game is scheduled for 5:00 PM and tip-off for the Men’s varsity game is scheduled for 6:30 PM. Senior night festivities are also being held in conjunction with the Clemons jersey retirement.
