Four Wildcats in double-figures as No. 2 Millbrook blasts No. 9 Garner, 92-58

No. 2 Millbrook won its second game this week over a ranked team, beating No. 9 Garner 92-58 on Thursday night.

Four Wildcats were in double-figures, led by Will Felton's double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, his second straight double-double this season. He had 30 points and 13 rebounds in a win over No. 12 Heritage earlier this week.

Jalen McCoy and Sam Hood each added 15 points for the Wildcats, while Adam Carey posted 11 points.

The first quarter set the tone for the Millbrook offense. With McCoy scoring four points in the last 15 seconds of the first quarter, Millbrook took a 26-18 lead into the second quarter.

It was in the second quarter where Millbrook took control. The Wildcats scored 30 points in the quarter, led by Felton's seven points. McCoy and Parker Swisher each scored six points in the quarter, while Eric van der Heijden scored five points.

Millbrook's size created problems for Garner all night. The length of the Wildcats made it hard for Garner to score inside, and the Trojans posted just 14 points in the second quarter. Millbrook had a commanding 56-32 lead at halftime.

The third quarter was another 30-point quarter for the Wildcats, again led by Felton with eight points. Millbrook's largest lead of the game came in the final minute of the third quarter when it went up by 40 points, sparking a running clock. Millbrook led 86-47 going into the fourth. Garner managed to outscore Millbrook 11-6 in the fourth quarter, but the hole was too large for the Trojans to climb out of.

Millbrook shot 69.3 percent from the field, including 10-of-17 from 3-point range. The Wildcats also out rebounded Garner 35-20.

Garner was led in scoring by A.J. Daniels' 18 points, the only player in double-figures for the Trojans. Benjamin Hines and Asa White both added nine points.

Millbrook (2-0) will return to action on Nov. 25 with a home game against Green Hope at 6:30 p.m. Garner (1-1) plays at Clayton on Nov. 26 at 8 p.m.
