2018-19 Varsity Schedule Released

 Millbrook High School has announced its varsity basketball schedule for the upcoming 2018-19 season. The 86th year of basketball at "The 'Brook" is highlighted by 10 home games, 10 road games, and 4 games at a neutral site.

 

The Wildcats will open the season at home on November 19th and welcome the defending 4-A state runner-up Heritage to town. Last season, the Huskies played to a 25-5 record with three wins over Millbrook including a 91-72 victory in the second round of the state playoffs.

 

Millbrook hits the road two days after Thanksgiving to take on First Flight at UNC Asheville's Kimmel Center in the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association Coaches vs. Cancer Shootout. The meeting will be the first against the Nighthawks in school history.

 

After a home contest against Wake Forest on November 27th, the Wildcats will hit the road for their first ever visit to Green Hope. The November 30th meeting against the Falcons kicks off a stretch of five games in seven days, four of which are against 2018 NCHSAA playoff qualifiers. 

 

Saturday, December 1st is the fifth annual HighSchoolOT.com Millbrook Winter Showcase against an opponent that is yet to be announced. The Wildcats continue two days later with a road games on back-to-back nights at Athens Drive and Cary. The second of a home-and-home series against Heritage wraps up on December 6th as Millbrook travels to Wake Forest, NC to battle the Huskies once more.

 

Wakefield High School makes the drive over on December 11th for Millbrook's final tune-up before Cap-7 play begins on December 18th at Southeast Raleigh. The Wildcats' final game before the holiday break is at home on December 21st against Enloe.

 

Following three games in the 25th Leon Brogden Holiday Tournament at Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC, the Wildcats will turn the calendar to 2019 and take on Leesville Road, Cardinal Gibbons, Sanderson, and Broughton to wrap up the first half of conference play.

 

Sanderson travels to Millbrook on February 8th for Wildcat Senior Night, and the 2019 Cap-7 Conference Tournament goes from February 19th through the 22nd. The top seed in the conference will receive a first round bye, and host the semi-final matchup with the next three seeds hosting quarterfinal matchups. Broughton High School will be the host of the championship game.

 

The first round of the 2019 NCHSAA 4-A state playoffs begins on February 26th. Millbrook's 22 consecutive playoff appearances is currently the longest active streak amongst 4-A schools in the state. The 2019 Regional Final will be played on March 9th, and the 2019 State Championship is scheduled for March 16th at either Reynolds Coliseum or the Dean E. Smith Center.
