Wildcats Bounce Back With Big Win


Six Wildcats contributed eight or more points as Millbrook snapped a two-game losing streak with a 74-40 victory over Wake Forest.

William Felton paced Millbrook early on, picking up where he left off prior to the Thanksgiving break when he scored 18 at Wakefield. The freshman tallied six of his ten points in the opening quarter as the Wildcat lead grew to as large as 19-8.

Jabari Brown and Adrian Scarborough carried Millbrook through a 27-point second quarter that led to a 46-20 halftime lead. The senior duo combined to score 11 points in the frame with Collin Lewis pitching in six of his eleven as well. The Wildcats ended the first half with 18 points in the final two minutes.

Matthew McIntyre contributed seven first half points for Millbrook. He would finish with eight overall, paired with a career-high six rebounds.

Millbrook carried its moment into the second half as Bradley Barnes caught fire from deep. Barnes hit three three-point baskets in the first ten minutes of the second half giving him a career-high in points with nine. Colin Davis added a career-best six points to inflate the Wildcat lead to 40 points in the final minute of the third quarter.

The Wildcats and Cougars played the final eight minutes with a running clock. Millbrook mustered ten points in the period including three from Phillip Burwell. Burwell had three points, three rebounds, and three assists in the second half.

Brown and Collin Lewis went on to lead Millbrook in scoring with 11 points each. Scarborough set season-highs in both points (10) and rebounds (7). Felton also pitched in with double-figures.

Millbrook moves to 2-2 on the season, it will return to action on Saturday evening at 6:00 PM in the fourth annual Millbrook Winter Showcase when it takes on Overhills. Admission to the event is $10.
