Wildcats Win Pair at Garner Jamboree

Adrian Scarborough scored a team-high 10 points twice to help propel Millbrook to victories over Middle Creek and Rolesville in the 2017 Garner Jamboree.

The Wildcats' 2-0 record on Saturday concludes their preseason schedule with a record of 4-1.

After falling behind 10-6 to Middle Creek, Millbrook strung together an 18-0 run to take a 24-10 lead into halftime. Phillip Burwell led all Wildcat scorers with seven points.

The Mustangs would battle back and narrow the gap to as little as five, but a late Bradley Barnes three, and William Felton bucket sealed the deal as Millbrook went on to win 40-33.

Rolesville gave Millbrook its biggest scare of the evening with a late first half run to trail by only point at the break. The Rams took a 35-31 lead with just over seven minutes to go, but tides turned following a technical foul against Rolesville's Joseph Green.

Millbrook sunk its technical free throw to spark an 11-2 run that would put the game out of hand. Sam Hood followed a Colin Davis three with one of his own, then Graham Watkins stole the ensuing inbound and floated in a basket to grow the Wildcat lead to as large at 43-35.

Scarborough guided Millbrook to a 53-45 final with his second three-point play of the game.

The Wildcats open the regular season on Tuesday evening when Apex pays visit for a 6:30 PM tip-off. Junior Varsity is scheduled to tip-off at 5:00 PM.
