Millbrook Announces 2017-18 Schedule

New Varsity Men's Basketball Coach, Chris Davis address the media, players, and coaches on April 3rd, 2017

The Millbrook Men’s Basketball program has announced its Varsity schedule for the upcoming 2017-18 season. Under the direction of first year head coach Chris Davis, the Wildcats will play 24 regular season games, nine at home, ten on the road, and five at a neutral location.

Millbrook will open its regular season slate at home November 14th against Apex. Last season, Patrick Dorsey scored 27 points, and returning guard Jabari Brown added 12 as the Wildcats defeated the Cougars 69-54.

What is arguably the toughest stretch of Millbrook’s schedule follows as the team hits the road starting on November 16th for games at Heritage, at Wakefield, at Wake Forest, and at Garner. Last season, six of the Wildcats’ eight losses came to those teams.

After falling by double digits to Heritage in the John Wall Holiday Invitational Tournament, Millbrook battled the Huskies into overtime, and deep into the fourth quarter before dropping both sides of what was formerly its home-and-home conference matchups.

Meeting for the second time in as many seasons in the Cap-8 Tournament Championship, the Wildcats handed Heritage its first loss of the season to claim the conference title. This season, the home-and-home series will be renewed despite conference realignment. Millbrook will host the second game of the series on December 7th.

The Wildcats will participate in two showcase events, and one holiday tournament this year. On December 2nd, Millbrook will host its fourth annual Winter Showcase event against an opponent that is to be named at future time. On January 13th, the Wildcats will return to Garner’s second annual showcase hosted by HighSchoolOT.com. Millbrook will travel to Acworth, Georgia this December to participate in four games at the Lake City Classic Basketball Tournament from December 27th-30th.

Back in the Cap-7 Conference for the first time since 2010, Millbrook will kick off its conference slate when one of the Cap-7’s newest members, Southeast Raleigh pays visit on December 12th. Millbrook hosts Enloe and Leesville Road prior to the holiday break before embarking on a stretch of five-of-six conference games on the road.

The Wildcats host Cardinal Gibbons on January 30th, travel to Sanderson on February 2nd, and hosting its senior night on February 9th when Broughton makes the trip to the Wildcat Gymnasium. Millbrook is currently tied with Leesville Road for the longest active home winning streak in Wake County.

The Wildcats will open its preseason on November 4th at a venue to be determined. On November 11th, Millbrook will scrimmage in a jamboree hosted by Garner Magnet High at South Garner High School.

The Cap-7 Tournament runs from February 13th through February 17th with the final two rounds being hosted at Broughton High School. The NCHSAA Playoffs start on February 20th with the Regional Final being played on March 3rd, and the 4A State Championship tipping off on March 10th.

Schedule information for Millbrook’s Junior Varsity and Freshman teams will be announced on a future date. All home games will tip off at 6:30 PM this season. For more information visit MillbrookBasketball.com or visit @MillbrookMBB on Twitter and Instagram. #Together18
