Dorsey Drains 23 In Win Over Victoria

December 2, 2016

Patrick Dorsey (Pictured) is now averaging 21.2 points per game for the 4-1 Wildcats.

For the first time in program history, Millbrook’s Varsity team welcomed in an opponent from down under. Behind a game-high 23 points from Patrick Dorsey, the Wildcats were able to top Basketball Victoria 75-49.

Dorsey got the scoring started with a steal and layup thirteen seconds into the contest. He then proceeded to hit a pair of fade-away jumpers, rack up another steal and layup, and sink a long three pointer from the right wing to close out an eleven point first quarter showing. With three’s from Noah Watkins and Landon Lee, along with baskets from Jabari Brown, Chase Fowler, and Adrian Scarborough, Millbrook lead Victoria 24-8 after the first stanza.

Millbrook took a 41-18 lead into halftime after Patrick Dorsey added seven more points to his total. Adrian Scarborough had two baskets in the second quarter to wrap up his scoring line at six points. On the opposing side, Matt Baggio lead the way in the first half for Basketball Victoria with seven points scored. Sean McDonald netted five, and Seb McArdle hit a three at the horn to end the first quarter.

The Australian’s were only able to muster five points in the third quarter as Millbrook established a 32-point advantage through three, but Victoria did not go down without a fight as they outscored the Wildcats 26-20 in the fourth quarter to get within 75-49 when the final buzzer sounded.

Sean McDonald had his way with the Wildcat defense in the fourth quarter as he scored nine of this team-high 14 points in the final eight minutes of play. Jack Holmer had two scores in the fourth, the Ryan Bowkett, and with Conner Graham picked up three points the old fashioned by sinking baskets while drawing the foul.

Landon Lee lead Millbrook in the second half with three more long balls for a total of twelve points in the victory. Patrick Dorsey added five more points, and Collin Lewis did the same; Lewis’ seven points came on the strength of the first three made field goals of his varsity career.

Bradley Barnes found the cup for the first time in varsity career as well when he drained a corner three from Jabari Brown late in the fourth quarter. Brown had eight points in the game, along with nine from Chase Fowler, five from Noah Watkins, and two from Noah Connell that came on a nifty reverse layup in the paint.

Millbrook is now 4-1 on the season with the victory. They wrap up a three game homestand on Saturday night with an 8:00 PM matchup with Orange High School in the finale of the third annual Millbrook Winter Showcase presented by Millard Kirk, and Phenom Hoop Report.
